books I'm reading

I frequent our local library a lot. I rarely actually buy books because our library is so great. They even have new release DVD's that I've been getting lately too... no more paying for watching movies for me! But I just thought I'd share what I'm reading right now (oh and I don't read fiction, so these of course are all non-fiction).

First one is Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover. A friend told me about it because they are following it and it sounded neat, so I got it. I've read most of it and I like it a lot. It seems like a great plan. It explains how to pay off debt, build emergency funds, build education and retirement funds and invest money. We have some debt that we haven't been successful at paying off very quickly, so this might help us. This book is also full of inspriational stories to help get you motivated to do it. I'm excited about it.

I haven't gotten too into this book yet. It's a little overwhelming because everything seems so new and different. But I want to read more of it and try to learn some from it.

This one is has diet in the name, but it's not really a "diet" as the regular definition, more of just how to live and eat in a healthy way. I use it as a reminder of how to be healthier.

I'm anxiously waiting for these.

This one is a DVD. Right now I'm number 8 on the hold list... getting closer! I think I started as number 45 or something.

And a book. This one is in transit...meaning on the way to the hold shelf!I really liked their other book, Artisan Bread in Five Minutes, so I'm anxious to see what this one is like.

plaid pants

I think this is such a cute picture.

Jackson was being a little silly here. He was testing leaning off to see if he'd fall or not.

Watching kitty go outstide.

random phone pics

We went to Wyatt's house the other day. This was so cute to see Jackson pushing Wyatt around in the truck. Jackson is really into pushing stuff, so he loved it.

And Jackson found something to climb up on at Wyatt's.

This was at home, him making his funny face.

10 months!

Wow, 10 months old! Closer and closer to 12 months!

Jackson is:
  • Cruising (walking while holding on to something) along the couch and other stuff great now
  • Eating finger foods 99% of the time on his own when in his high chair (and about 5 bottles a day). Does not like it when I spoon feed him. Would rather have his oatmeal on the tray for him to feed himself than me. It's a little messy, but it works!
  • Has four teeth that have cut through, two on the top and two on the bottom.
  • Says "Uh" for uh oh when he drops something on the ground. It kind of sounds like a combination of Uh and Eh. Definitely says it in context.
  • Does the elephant sign after I do it, doesn't make the noise, even though he can.
  • Has been for awhile, but is really getting more into books. Will look at one on his own and turn the pages. Loves the touch and feel ones the best.
  • Takes 2 naps a day, sometimes three if one was short.
  • Standing more and more on his own, not a ton yet, but some.
  • Shakes his head no in context
  • Dances/bounces to music
  • Climbs up on everything he can (as seen in previous pictures). If we sit on the ground and he comes to us, it's usually not because he wants us, it's because he wants to climb on us to get to the couch or whatever behind us.

teeth and funny face

Jackson has four teeth now! The bottom right one was first and came in just after the first of the year, then soon after came the bottom left and the top two. You can't see much of them, but they have cut through. I tried to get some pictures of them today. It's so hard becuase once he does open his mouth (laughing/smiling or whatever) he doesn't stay still long enough to get a clear shot. It's funny hearing teeth chatter on a drinking glass now.

This is his new funny face. I'm not sure what to call it. I think I missed the shot where he was doing it full on, but he squints his eyes and scrunches up his nose and mouth and breathes hard through his nose. It's pretty funny. He does it a lot when we play and when I get him. He loves it when I roar and make monster noises and get him. Most of the time he only does it when he's running (crawling) away from me, so I don't see it often either.

Christmas

I wanted to share some Christmas pictures, even if it is way past Christmas.

Dan had to work Christmas eve and day. This is Jackson and I at church Christmas morning.

Then we went and spent the day with Dan at the airport fire station. Only one firefighter is at that station, so it was nice to have him to ourselves.

We got Jackson a telephone for Christmas.

The day after Christmas we went to Dan's parents house. Here Jackson is watching Cheryl open her present.

Then Jackson and I got up really early one morning and Dan took us to the airport. The two of us flew to Portland and my parents picked us up. That was Jackson's second plane ride. He slept the whole flight (which was only like 25 mins, but he also did great during all the waiting too). We stayed with my parents for a couple days and then Dan drove over. Then after a couple more days we drove back home.

We opened a few presents before Dan came.

And then opened the rest when Dan arrived.

We went to the beach for New Years and watched the movie Up.

catching up

I finally added Jackson's 9 month pictures. They were taken when he was actually 9 months (so almost a month ago now!).

Click here to go back and see them!

more by my dad

I found some time this morning to do more pics that my dad took. I think these are pretty cute.

i edited a picture!

I finally got photoshop to work... don't have a clue what was wrong either.

I think it might take me a bit to go through and pick my favs out and then find the time to edit them (even though it doesn't take that long, it's still hard to find time since Jackson usually is trying to help me.) Here is another one that my dad took.
