6 months old!!

I can't believe Jackson is half a year old!

Here are some of the other cute/funny pictures.

Right now he is:
  • moving around in circles and just started scooting with his legs recently
  • eating foods really well, eats 3 meals now, eats the mum mum crackers great now and the other day he picked up some little pieces of pancake off his tray by himself!
  • loves to drink from a cup/glass, he gets so excited when he sees one and tries to grab at it
  • loves to pee outside (way more than inside! too bad it's going to get cold soon!)
  • isn't quite sleeping at night as good as last month, but close
  • still for sure needs 3 naps a day
  • loves splashing in the bath tub and trying to get his toys

scootin'

Jackson's been practicing and he's got the hang of it when he wants to go get something now.

new banner

A new banner!

I'm 29

Dan is in the middle of his shift today (he works 48 hours on and 96 off now), so for my birthday he emailed me this morning. The email said Happy Birthday and to find your present, follow the clue. The first clue was "Look at the feet of the animal that flew the farthest home." Which is our giraffe that he got in Africa. I found the clue and found around 5 more through the house and then found a birthday card with a gift card to Coldstone Icecream. It was very nice, I love scavenger hunts like that. My dad would always do them for me growing up and I thought they were the coolest thing.

My parents are coming to town for a few days today. They haven't seen Jackson for a month! And tonight we are going out to the airport fire station to eat dinner with Dan.

Last weekend, my Grandpa and Ardy came to town with a model A group. So Jackson had to wear his oshgosh overalls for his Great Grandpa, even though they are 12 month size, they fit him pretty good still.

I took Jackson out in the grass again for more pictures. He now can sit by himself a little, just a little because then he falls over. He did better in the grass than on the floor inside though, the grass must support him a bit.

Kaeli is such a good dog. This pic looks like Jackson is posing for it.

Look at this same set up 3 months ago.

Jackson loves getting thrown up in the air, finally got a shot of it (and he's even naked, hehe!).

Outside

I'm already dreading cold weather coming. So I've been trying to enjoy the nice weather before it's gone.

Jackson liked being outside too. He loved pulling the grass, which of course he would since he loves pulling my hair too.

Kaeli was over on the side playing with a toy and Jackson was really interested in what she was doing.

in the grass

I was holding Jackson and held him down so his feet touched the grass and he hated it, he immediately started to cry. Don't really know why, he's stood in the grass before. But I went and got the bumbo, put him in it and he didn't care at all that his feet were touching the grass. After awhile in the bumbo, I took him out and stood him in the grass again and he didn't care then. So he just had to get used to it. Anyways, he thought it was pretty neat to pull the grass.

He put the grass to his mouth and I just watched to see what he would do. He didn't get any in and then put his hand down and decided not to do it anymore. It's almost like he was testing me to see what I would do.

I think it's been awhile for a kitty picture, so here he is. Silly kitty has been limping around on his front paw because he got an abscess on it. It's pretty gross, but it's almost healed now. Silly kitty always getting in fights and getting hurt!

mismatch day

If it was mismatch day at school, this is what Jackson could wear!

Just thought I'd show how big he's getting in the moby now. I saw a picture of him the other day as a little baby in the moby and it's crazy how small he was in it. Here Dan is wearing him at 2 weeks old and here I am wearing him at about 1 1/2 months old.

Random picture of driving in the car today.

I picked 4 zucchini from the garden yesterday! Made zucchini bread with one of these today.

On the little potty

So this all started with reading an article online about the girl that used to play Blossom on tv. It said she was an "unconventional" mother. So I clicked on it to see what was so "unconventional" about her. She does cloth diapers, co-sleeps, babywearing and elimination communication (EC). I didn't really know what EC meant, so I looked it up. It's basically about watching for cues that your baby needs to go to the bathroom, watching their routine of going to the bathroom and taking the baby to the toilet or wherever to 'go' and cue them by making a certain noise like "psss". It intrigued me. I got some books about it from our library, read more. And started doing it.

The first time, I just held him over his diaper during a change and said go potty and pssss. Guess what, he pee'd! Then over the next two days I kept trying more and wasn't happening, but I was watching/learning his routine better. The third night I took him to the toilet when he started stirring when it was soon to be time for a bottle and he went a lot! Did it again in the early morning and he went again! It's been a week or so now and he goes maybe 1/3 of the time in the toilet and poops about 1/2 the time in the toilet. He goes the best at night, I guess less distractions and easy since he just woke up and is for sure ready to go.

It's so different than we are used to and it's amazing to me that it works. My goals through this are just to get him more used to the toilet so the transition later will be easier and to maybe have less diapers to wash or at least less poopy diapers to wash. I know it will have ups and downs and that's ok with me, but at least we are trying and he doesn't mind it. I can't believe I didn't know about this till now. Some people start at birth, I don't think I would have started that early, but maybe at 2-3 months. They say the sooner the better so they don't forget how to use that muscle and so they don't get used to soiling themselves too much.

Our main reason going to Babies R Us the other day was for this Baby Bjorn Little Potty. It's smaller than the normal kids potty seats, so he fits right on it. He's gone a few times in it already. Gives him another place to go, especially if he gets tired of looking at the toilet.

new layout

I'm trying out a new stretched layout and trying to see if I can get the pictures to be bigger too. .... I figured it out!! Now it looks like I definitely need to update my banner!

Are these too big for you to view? Please leave me a comment if it is. Thanks!

Labor day weekend and 2 new things

We got back from Washington for Dan's family's annual reunion for Labor Day weekend. It was a lot of fun. On that side of the family there are 5 new babies and 4 were able to attend. Jackson, Alana, twins Carter and Logan.

We all put on a pirate themed carnival for all the kids. Jackson even got in on some of it.

Jackson is on the left being held by his Uncle Jeff the Pirate.

We made a quick stop at Babies R Us and got some new stuff. Since Jackson has been grabbing for all bottles and glasses, we figured we would buy his own sippy cup. He likes it, but is still learning how to keep it at his mouth.

While at our family reunion, Alana let Jackson try out her mesh feeder and Jackson liked it really well. So I decided to go ahead and buy one too. I figure this is something else Jackson can do on his own right now and it gets his hands working. He really liked it. I put frozen papaya puree in it and he loved it.

We have been getting eggs everyday now and we are getting a blue egg too! They taste great too.
