I'm off to Church Camp

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for church camp. I'll be there for a week, so I won't be able to post or sadly make any cards while I'm gone. I am hoping for some cool nature pictures, we'll see how good I am though.

Sanded stamp

I made this card yesterday. I tried to do a distressed look. I used the Sanded background stamp and the distressing tool on it.

Elk Lake

I went to Elk Lake today with some friends (it's in Central Oregon, about an hour from where I live). Here is a picture of the lake. It was very pretty.

I am making little goodie bags of candy for guests at my cousin's fiance's wedding shower that is coming up. I made these tags to go on the bags. I haven't figured out what kind of candy yet, but I'll use a clear plastic bag and then tie the tag on with ribbon. I again used a brush from DesignFruit. I really want to learn how to make such cool brushes myself, but haven't gotten there yet. I used SU! Wild Wasabi and River Rock paper, which just happens to match their wedding invitation colors pretty close.

Here is another background/wallpaper that I made. I used the same quote that I'm using for the wedding shower tags. And same credit to DesignFruit for the photoshop brushes.

Inspiration

I went shopping today and I saw so many clothes and accessories that have great style to copy into scrapbooking or card making. It's great how graphic styles are.

Also I got some inspiration to make a background for my computer from Davinie.

I made my own background using Photoshop. The brushes I used are from DesignFruit. The quote is from an unknown source, but I found it at Proverbia.net. The background size is 1680x1050. It was fun to make. I made some others, but this is the one I have on my background right now. If you like it, feel free to click on the image and then right click on the image to save the picture to your computer or set as background.

Old pictures

I wanted to play with some old pictures. They aren't truly old, but they aren't current. My husband and I went to East Africa in Oct 06. I made a book (Costco printed album) with a bunch of the pictures, but I hadn't done anything else with them. So, I made a mosaic of different faces. I think I'll make a scrapbook page with this picture.

I am seriously wishing/wanting to buy a new camera. Right now I have a Kodak V550. It's small and takes good pictures, but I want better pictures. I would still use this one a lot I'm sure since it's so small, it fits in my purse or pocket easy. I've done some research and I think the one I want is the Nikon D40X. I'm curious, what kind of camera do you have and do you like it?

Little feet

Here is a card I made using the I'm Here stamp set.

I didn't like the banner completely, so I made a new one. I like this one more.

New banner

I'm not quite sure if I like my new banner or not yet. But I do want to have a place where I can see the old banners on my blog, so I'm going to save the old and new one here and make a new label.

Plus, the new banner is an actual picture of my flowers.

Create

Here is another card I made at my parents this last weekend. I used my Mom's Doodle This stamp set. I used the crop-a-dile to set the jumbo eyelet in the flower center. And I used the Define Your Life stamp set for the create definition. The edges of the white paper are distressed, that's why they are a little fuzzy.
Well, this morning again, more of my sunflowers have been eaten. I have like two left. I raked the dirt last night again and I can see the prints again. It apears it's just one animal, but I still don't know what it is.

Visitors again

Well, we aren't quite sure if the visitors are deer or not. Maybe they are raccoons or porcupines? But either way, it happened again. I looked outside this morning checking on the big sunflower and this is what I found.

We aren't sure because there weren't any deer tracks. The ground was soft from the rain yesterday, plus I raked it last night to scrape away the small weeds in the pathway.

I also made this cute card this morning. I dyed the flowers yesterday. They are from the SU! Pretties Kit. I dropped a couple drops of Rose Red die and couple drops of water in a plastic sandwich bag. I mushed it all around and set them out on a paper towel to dry. They turned out pretty good I think. Then for the Certainly Celery strip of paper, I used my Crop-A-Dile to emboss the circles. I learned this technique from Kristina. After I saw her technique I then noticed it is also done on the cover of Stampin' Success (SU! Demo Mag).

Visitors

It appears we have some visitors in our back yard. We haven't seen them, but there are some big clues that they have been there.

Two different days when I have checked on my flowers this is what I have found. My poor sunflowers! I wish the deer would find other food. Just down in the field is a bunch of grass, but I guess my sunflowers taste better. I had about 15 or so back there and each time the deer have eaten more and knocked more over. The biggest one was pulled out of the ground, roots showing, so I planted it again and am hoping it will be make it. Last year we didn't have problems with deer, but I didn't have this many sunflowers either.

Here are two 3x3 cards I made. The So Saffron ink shows up a lot lighter than the Certainly Celery. You can see the doodle stamp a lot easier on the Certainly Celery background than the So Saffron. They were fun and easy cards to make.

It's raining!

When I woke up this morning, I heard this weird noise outside. It's raining outside! It hasn't rained for awhile, especially like this. It's like valley rain.

Sorry, I'm showing a card that has retired stamp sets. I made this also while I was with my parents. My mom has these stamp sets and I hadn't gotten a chance to play with them yet.

I won blog candy!

This is what I won from Teri. It is so cute!

I liked her mini star book so much, I had to try it myself. Here is my attempt at it.

Kind

I made this card this weekend while I was in the valley at my parents house. It is a gate fold card. The kind circle holds the card together.

The monkey is so fun!

I made this card today using my new scallop punch.

Flowers

UPS came last night and brought me my order from the new Stampin' Up! catalog. I am so excited to play with the new stuff. I'm most excited about the Crop-A-Dile, Jumbo Eyelets, Pretties Kit, and textured paper. Here is a card I made this morning. The Crop-A-Dile (pg 189) is so easy to use, I love it! It's hard to tell from the picture, but I used the Sanded stamp on the Rose Red background and Stampin' Glitter Dazzling Diamonds on the flower petals.

What wonerful weeds I have in my backyard! I pulled a bunch of them at the beginning of summer, but I left a couple. They get so big and have pretty little flowers on them.

This is the back side of the fence where I put wildflower seeds down. They are looking good and there are some little white blooms now. The flowers blooming here are hollyhocks.

Busy weekend

We kept pretty busy last week and this weekend. On the 4th, we watched the Redmond parade, then we went to the Sunriver BBQ that is put on by the fire dept, and then we went to our friends parents house for a BBQ. We spent the evening on their deck and watched the Redmond fireworks from about 10 miles away, so no pictures of fireworks. However, I had fun taking pictures of the little landscaping lights they had. The only thing I did was add the watermark, nothing else. I made the heart by using a long shutter speed and moving my hand in the shape of a heart while taking a picture of the light.

Below is a picture of the chickens that Dan's mom has. The two that are speckled gray were the chicks we raised. My how they have grown! Go to the April 1st post to see what they looked like when they were little.
