garden

I took these a few days ago, just took awhile to get them posted.

Here is my garden this year. I have carrots, lettuce, zuchini, cucumbers, marigolds and snow peas in there.

These are on the back side of the little fence, I'm not sure what kind of flowers these are exactly. I believe some sort of daisy. They keep spreading a little every year, this is the best they've looked so far. I don't think the picture does them justice (maybe I should have messed with the color/vibrance in photoshop to help, oh well).

And here are more snow peas that I put next to the chicken coop to give them some shade. This is the first year I've ever grown snow peas. It's been great having them, I'll definitely do them again next year.

in the pool

The other day we played in the pool. Jackson has so much fun with water!

riding on cliffs

Jackson wanted to ride his bike up on the rock wall the other day.

He got it that far, but I helped him down.

Annual hollyhock picture

Here is the annual picture of the backside of our backyard. I've kept up with the weeds this year! The rose bush at the end is about to bloom. And the poppy's (in the middle on the left) are close to blooming too. I'm going to try to plant some pumpkins back here this year, I'm excited to try that.

summer is on it's way!

I always love the first use of the clothes line of the season. It means summer is on it's way. I don't set up the clothes line until we actually start getting nice weather. Since I don't have diapers to wash anymore, it's going to be hard to use it 100% in the summer. When I did have diapers to wash, hanging them on the clothes line was the best. The stains would come right out and since I had to wash them every other day I felt good about drying them outside instead of using so much electricity with the dryer (especially since they took forever to dry). In an odd way, I miss having diapers to wash and line dry. Here is an old post that I talked about using the line the whole summer with pictures.

Look what I made! Dan helped me... a lot. It's for our little chickies (more like teenager chickies now). We are going to move them outside and put them in with the adult hens and this will be a place they can hide if the big chickens are picking on them.

Here they are. I had to corner them to get a picture. They wouldn't listen when I told them to sit and stay in front of their new house.

snow

I thought the groundhog said spring was on it's way!

This is what we woke up to two mornings ago.

snow

We woke up with some snow on the ground today. I bundled Jackson all up and we went outside.

lots of fun

Wyatt came over and the two of them had a good time on the new play structure.

New play structure

We got a new (to us) play structure! I've been watching Craigslist and found this one. I called the number and the lady lived only a block away! It also has a slide, we just didn't get it put on yet. Our plan is to paint/stain it again and spruce it all up. It'll be great for Jackson. Especially now that we'll cover the dirt with rocks, perfect timing to get rid of the dirt pile for winter.

I like this pic, even with it being blurry.

summer fun

It got into the mid 90's (f) today, so I set up the slip and slide this morning. It was a lot of fun. Jackson fell a couple times on it and didn't quite understand the concept yet, but he still had fun outside.

Wyatt and Amy came over too. Wyatt had a lot of fun with it. Amy and I both did it too, but I'm not posting pictures of that.

I got some finger paints for Jackson to try out.

finally nice weather

We finally got some 80 degree (F) weather! It seems we had a cool spring, so it's nice that summer is here. To enjoy it more, I got out the little pool.

Jackson loves to cuddle blankets, pillows, etc, just for a short moment and then he moves on.

Learning how to drink from the hose.

Filling the pool!

Jackson and I went and got some vegetables for the garden! I planted them tonight after Jackson went to bed. I bought two zucchinis, three corn, two tomatoes, and one orange bell pepper.

And here is Jackson eating dinner tonight. First time with his new plate! He did very well. He wanted to pick it up a couple times, but I held it down.
