I need to catch up on some pictures and happenings. We got Jacksona a new bike a few weeks ago (maybe a month ago now?). He does great! He can't start on his own yet, he did once though. He's just not tall enough to get it going... soon enough I'm sure. But once he gets going, he does great.
Wyatt came over today with his pedal bike and Jackson wanted to try it. He has tried it a couple weeks ago and kept reverse pedaling, which was causing him to suddenly stop every couple feet.
I wanted to document what Jackson is signing and saying right now at 15 months.
He says the following words very often:
Hi
Daddy
Mommy
Please
Uh oh
Baby
Hot
And says these words sometimes:
Doggy
Kitty
Beep
Bye
Thank you
Jackson signs these a lot:
Outside (probably signs the most)
Please (second place)
More
Help
Drink
Eat
Milk
Kitty
Train
Diaper (which means he has to poop and/or pee)
Bye
Plane
Thank you
Baby (usually means he's asking to watch Baby Signing Time dvd)
And sometimes signs:
cow
pig
car
Here is a video I caught this morning while Dan and Jackson were playing in the pick-up truck.
Jackson also says "psshh" to the animals when they are misbehaving. He gets it from me and I got it from Cesar Milan, the dog whisperer. It's pretty funny though, whenever Kaeli barks, Jackson makes a "psshh" noise at her.
I bought Jackson some new shoes yesterday. I bought them at Baby Phases. They are Itsy Bitsy brand. Here are some videos of Jackson wearing them. ***Make sure you have the volume ON or else it won't give the same effect.
The squeaker is in the heel of the shoes and is removable. It'd be pretty funny though having Jackson wear them with the squeaker to church.
It was great he did his cheesy smile for the pictures, I wasn't even trying to get him to do it.
Here is what he is doing.
Started walking (see previous post for video). He took his true first step earlier this month and then every once in awhile would take a step. Then on 2/22/10 took 4-5 steps at a time multiple times walking to me.
Stands up unassisted (like in the middle of the room with no toys or help)
Climbs on and off the couch unassisted, he used to need a toy or kaeli to help climb up, and now can do it by himself. And he has taken our advice on going off the couch feet first instead of head first. He's really good at it now too. (See video below.)
Says baby, sounds a little like beebee, along with mama, dada and uh oh and other mumbles.
Signs "more" and "eat" along with shaking his head "no" and waves bye. Will also sign elephant, kitty, milk, diaper and bath now after I do it or ask about it.
Is becoming a picky eater. he will always eat fruit, but other stuff it depends.
Pats on Kaeli and Kitty.
Gives kisses to Dan and I. Half the time open mouth and half the time closed mouth.
Still loves pulling hair, climbing on everything and dancing to music.
Jackson isn't walking everywhere yet, but when I set him up to walk he likes it and does it, still falling a bit and off balance but pretty good I think. Here are a couple more of him tonight. (Oh and notice his new pants!! I made them out of an old sweater (thanks Cheryl!). They are wool, so they act as a cover for his cloth diaper and he doesn't need pants or babylegs! The pants Jackson has on in his first steps video are new too, same thing, made from an old wool sweater of mine.)
Jackson has started to say "mama" and "dada". Sometimes "mama" sounds like "mum" and "mmmama". He just figured out how to open his mouth when saying "mmmm". He says "mama" when he's more tired and then "dada" when he's happy. He's been saying "dada" in the morning a bunch lately. He says it with a high pitched voice.
I helped him figure it out, but now he can do it by himself as long as the giraffe is there.
I think this is his first actual crusing along something. Before he would be standing and get down and crawl and then stand back up again, even on really short distances.
He loves riding his giraffe. I was trying out a comb-over look for him too, hehe.
Jackson is watching Baby Signing Time DVD on our computer. It shows a little clip of a cartoon with two kids and a frog. He likes the kids laughing a lot.
Jackson is now grabbing at everything within his reach, including pulling (hard) on my hair when I hold him. He especially likes to grab and suck on my water bottle. He doesn't get any water yet, but sure likes to chew on it. He gets frustrated when we take it away.
Guess what I was doing in the background while Dan was videotaping this?
I was jumping up and down and waving my hands in the air. He loved it. It started with me just jumping once and he did a little smile/giggle and then I jumped again and he started to laugh.
Also, I've been wanting to note what he's been doing lately:
blowing bubbles/spit - Jackson likes it a lot when I blow through my lips (what do you call it, raspberries?, but not on him) and he has started to do it too, it's cute.
smiles lots at mom
knows that when we shake his bottle of milk in front of him what is coming
loves sleeping in the moby
still sleeps great at night
sitting good in the bumbo seat - can't believe he's such a big boy that he sits in it already, no good pictures yet of him in it, will add some soon.
