right now

Right now Jackson is:

  • Smiling like 10 times a day, will do it when we tickle or kiss his cheeks
  • Hardly cries, mainly only when we change his diaper
  • Weighed 6 lbs 13 oz on my food scale this morning
  • And I think he is the cutest baby ever!

Here are some pictures of him from lately too. Remember, you can click on them to see them bigger too.

I went on a walk with my friends. It's so crazy we all have small babies right now! The walk was really nice. Today it was way too windy for a walk though, we had like 40 mph winds.

Here is Jackson sleeping in my moby wrap (actually fake moby wrap that I sewed, but it's exactly like a moby wrap, and is what I wore him in on the walk above).

Here we gave him a sponge bath. He didn't mind much.

5 days old now!

We had a busy weekend, for a new baby at least. Saturday we met our family at a pancake house for brunch. It was nice. I was looking forward to going out for breakfast. Jackson did amazing, like always. Then Sunday we went to Church and he again did great. He made a couple squeaks, but that was it. After church Jackson had a doctor appointment (for his circumcision). All went well and he weighed 6 lbs 11 oz. Up one ounce from discharge weight.

Also, Sunday afternoon, his birth mom and family (Grandma, Uncle Tristan, Uncle Caleb and Aunt Jenny) came by for their first visit.

Spring!

First day of spring and I have flowers in my front yard! Last year I posted about these flowers on March 7th, so these are blooming a little later than last year.

two weeks and a new toy

This Sunday will be exactly two weeks to go until Hannah's due date! And this Sunday will be our last birthing class (total of 3 Sunday afternoon classes). Last class Hannah had a couple of contractions during class. She said they don't hurt, but her whole belly gets tight for 45-60 seconds and then relaxes. I got to feel it, it was neat. I've been pretty prepared for awhile now, but I think I'm for sure ready. I've been keeping the house clean and everything is ready for a baby to come! Just have to wait! And I thought waiting for Christmas when I was little was hard!

Davinie gave me a toy for when baby gets older and Wyatt to play with. First thing this morning when Wyatt came he played with it. He likes it a lot. He likes to spin the flower (in the second picture).

Long week

Last Sunday, I got to go to the first birthing class with Hannah and her mom! It was kind of what I expected. I'm really glad I get to go to them with her though. There are two more on the next two Sunday afternoons. The class is smaller, 5 other pregnant ladies. The instructor is nice and breaks up her lecture with relaxation techniques.

Monday I started to get a cold and have had it all week, starting to finally feel better now.

Wednesday I drove to Albany. My Grandpa died on Friday, so Wednesday was his funeral. It was very nice. A small graveside service with close family and friends. He was 82 and had Alzheimer's and just recently went on hospice care, so it was somewhat expected. Then I came back home on Thursday.

Then Friday, I picked Dan up from the airport! He was gone for the last two weeks at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg Maryland.

Today we are just relaxing and I'm still getting better from being sick. Then tomorrow I get to go to the birthing class again!

Oh and for Lent I'm giving up chocolate! I did last year too, and decided again it would be good to give up again.

More sewing

I sewed some more diapers. Joann's got some patterned knit fabric in and I had to buy some! These have some minor sewing flaws, but oh well, they will still work. The camo one on the left is a size small using the Mama bird pattern and the cute doggie print is a newborn with umbilical scoop from the Nappy Network site.
