A card for my Dad

My Dad turns 60 tomorrow.

Everything is SU!, except the two large brads (don't remember what brand they are). And I printed the "Happy 60th" on my printer.

Oops

I missed the part in the directions that said "DON'T USE 9 INCH PAN." Luckily, I checked it after 5 minutes of cooking and it was already close to overflowing, so I put a cookie sheet under it. The angel food cake tastes great though!

I was outside yesterday taking pictures of some flowers in my backyard and caught this. Click on the picture to make it bigger if needed. Silly bug ruined my perfect flower I was shooting. On the far right picture you can see him flying away with the ripped petal. Pretty crazy.

No cards to share today. I need to start making swaps for Portland SU! Demo Regionals though. I'm excited for that, it will be my first SU! big event.

A Christmas card before Halloween!

Everyone else in the stamping/card making world is already making Christmas cards, so I thought I'd try too.

The stamps are from the Tags for All set in the Holiday Mini SU! catalog. All the stamps in this set have "To" and "From" in them and are mainly for presents. So, I'm pretty proud of myself for being so creative with this stamp set. However, this will probably be the only creative idea that I'll come up with. I got the layout idea from Beate.

Two cards and two of kitty

I made these two cards while trying to remember to keep it simple. From Kristina's website, she talked about going back to basics. However, I didn't go all the way back, but the cards are pretty basic. And kitty wanted to be in the picture again, so I let him.

Here is kitty looking out the back window at some birds (that are eating sunflower seeds from my sunflowers). This picture is almost exactly like the picture in my first post.

Smith Rock

I went and hiked all around Smith Rock State Park this morning. I was there from 8:30am to 1:00pm. I didn't take Kaeli today because I took my camera. That is why I was there so long, I took about 700 pictures! So, here are some of the pictures I took. I think they turned out pretty good. I did not make any color/lighting adjustments in photoshop with any of these pictures. It's just amazing having a digital camera. There is no way I would have gotten these good of pictures with a film camera.

In the picture below, is a rock called Monkey Face. Can you see it?

Pets

I made another BohoWest type card yesterday. When I got the camera out, kitty jumped up on the table and wanted to be in the picture.

Kaeli was laying on the floor in the craft room and the lighting was pretty good, so I took some pictures of her too. The picture came out too bright, so i did some color & lighting adjustments in photoshop.

A card

Don't have much to say right now, so here is a card I made yesterday.

Here is my new banner. It's of a farm in Powell Butte with Smith Rocks in the background.

BoHo West Cards

While I was waiting for my husband to come home last night (from work), I started making some cards. He was two hours late, so I made four!

Couple cards

Here are two cards I made today. This first one, not my favorite, but I was trying out the masking and sponging technique (mask with post it notes and then sponge ink on).

Good Saturday

Today I,

  • worked out at Smith Rock State Park

  • made a couple rice bags and lavender eye pillows (camo print for the guys and purple with design on it for the ladies)

  • cleaned a little around the house

  • took some quick portraits of Kaeli (the first photo below)

  • and then played around with Photoshop (I got a lot of help from Jessica Sprague's website). So, here is what I did:

I think these are my first two true digiscrap pages (hybrid pages, whatever you want to call them). I sent the 2nd one to scrapbookpictures.com and ordered a 12x12 picture of it. I'll see how it turns out. I don't really like flat fake embelishments, so I probably won't do too many full hybrid pages. It was fun playing with the papers though and making adjustments on them so they would match better.
Here is what the backyard (backside of the backyard fence) looks like today. I'm happy with how it turned out this summer.

Mini Notebook

I decorated this mini notebook. I just made it quick last night for something fun and easy to make.

Another Scrapbook page

Here is another scrapbook page (using only SU! products). The page is pretty simple because I wanted the pictures to stand out more.

These two pictures are funny when put next to each other. I took the one of Kaeli out in a field next to our house while she is chasing a tennis ball. And then the bunny is at the airport fire station. About 4-5 wild bunnies are always out in the front lawn. When I walked up, he started to run.

A scrapbook page!

I haven't truly scrapbooked in a long time. I've made quick little 6x6" pages for classes, but not scrapbooked solely for myself. Plus this page is done with only Stampin' Up! products. Everything was from the Creative License Simply Scrappin' kit from the hostess set (level 1). I made the stickers pop up with dimensionals. And I used the distressor on the papers and close to cocoa ink on the edges.

Great colors

I woke up early this morning to go see off two sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws going on a hot air balloon ride. Here are some pictures I got. Sadly, I wasn't thinking and didn't recharge my nikon battery. I don't have a spare yet and went this whole weekend without charging it, so it didn't last long. So I used my kodak camera to get some pictures. (Which the kodak still does really good, but I wanted to play with the nikon more with this great opportunity of the colors and chance to be so close.)

Pictures

Here are some pictures I took on our weekend trip. The drive to Portland has a huge range of scenery.

Heading to Portland

We are driving to Portland today for my cousin's wedding. I'm excited for his wedding and I'm excited to take pictures the whole time. The whole time includes the drive up and before the wedding and tomorrow when we come home.

Here is a card I made for a demonstrator meeting I have tomorrow evening. I got the idea from Kristina. I really love her blog. Her pictures are so great.

So many pictures

Wow, I was able to take 1,051 pictures until the battery needed to be charged again! I'm sure it will go down, but that's pretty cool. The manual says the battery can take 520 per battery charge (by some CIPA standard).

Here are two more pictures of Kaeli I took just now. Kaeli is my best subject, she cooperates a lot better than kitty does.

Oodles of tags!

I got the new Tags for All set from the Holiday Mini catalog and I just kept making more and more tags! I think I'll have enough tags for a couple years worth of presents. The snowmen were fun to color with the pastels and I colored the sky using the aqua painter and a blue watercolor crayon.

Photo for profile

New camera and a new haircut!

I got an early birthday present! I'm so excited that I got a new camera, so I am blogging and showing some of the pictures from it! It's a nikon D40X. I've been dreaming about this camera for awhile now, so I'm very, very excited about finally getting it. I've taken over 800 pictures in the last 24 hours!

Here is my new haircut. I wanted something different and I know it's not too different because this haircut is pretty popular right now, but it's different for me too. I also got highlights put in. The A-line/pob/haircut isn't too dramatic, but it's fun for me.

This celebrate card is the first card I've made in awhile too. It's a waterfall type card. It was fun to make.

I went on a drive to Smith Rocks and saw some deer, very cool.

Here is another picture of Kaeli yawning. I'm so loving my new camera!
